Myroslav Bur was our first Ukranian intern in 2022. He’s been back twice since and now is teaching other interns — how to drive the old Ford 150 truck, which garden tools to use for hoeing or pruning, where you can best spot a young Bald Eagle or a Red-tailed Hawk. Five Ukranian interns joined us on their Spring break this year; after taking Sasha (Alex Sinhayivskyy) back to Georgetown at the end of the break, the other four interns enjoyed a day in Washington. Seven Ukranian students joined us in early June and July, and many more joined us for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Woodlawn Farm.
Giving thanks for shelter and the bounty of our country is an annual time of happiness for all of us as Americans. We learned last year that this is an easily adopted tradition by our Ukranian friends as well.
