Since 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine, our family farms have been an oasis to Ukrainian students during their Spring Breaks from U.S. schools. It hardly needs to be said, but many simply cannot return home. Here’s Lev Tartakovsky from Odessa planting a butterfly bush on the occasion of his very meaningful 18th birthday last year.

At our farms, all of our SlackWorks interns learn landscape and trail basics along with simple repairs. Each project starts with a visual design. This March we will focus on a Spring vegetable garden in the Ukrainian tradition with a small foot bridge nearby (see our design inspiration below).
